Joseph Degenfelder, Chairman, TTM Associates
In his first two decades Joseph developed durable vinyl siding, and advanced reinforced polyolefin formulations for the appliance and auto industries, notably for GE Appliance Park. Later advanced coatings were the most durable to protect polypropylene fibers from outdoor degradation. These modelling techniques were applied as founder of an online DNA sequencing company in 1983, with early support to the Cleveland Clinic in 1985.   In 1984 he installed a medical utilization program for Kaiser Permanente using Revelation DBMS, (later sold to Cosmos, then to IBM analytics.) In 1986 he installed a system for monitoring patients in intensive care at CCF using the QNX OS to for real-time multi-user performance of Intel‘s 80486 CPU. In 1990 he introduced Donald Simborg and HL-7 to the CCF. In 2002 he reported on 1,000 EMR companies who had initially succeeded, and then were bankrupt. In 2003 he met Dr. James Maisel of Zydoc, and in 2006 advised on sale of 17 major and 53 sub-categories of medical terms to DOD. In 2009 early versions of MediSapien to convert unstructured text into fully coded structured data, accepting dictation or text from transcription vendors, legacy data and EHRs, were introduced to potential partners. A side interest was the reasons for failure of HIEs. Current interest is in ‘big data’ for health analytics, using open-source MINERVA, a future bridge to advances in proteomic and genomic medicine.
